Excuse2Party

We just need an excuse to party

A friendly app that turns birthdays, anniversaries, and big dates into reasons to celebrate — Moondays, round-number days, half birthdays, countdowns, and more. Your people stay on your phone or computer.

Use the web app in your browser after Ben invites you. Free during early access. iPhone and Android apps coming soon.

What it does

Pick the dates that matter. Excuse2Party does the math and surfaces the next fun milestones — so you never miss a Moonday cake moment.

  • Moondays & month birthdays

Count life in months, not just years — like the famous 750th Moonday. Monthly milestones for birthdays, with big celebrations on round numbers.

  • Big round days

10,000 days, half birthdays, anniversaries, weeks, and dense milestone tables on each event — always knowing what’s next.

  • Chinese birthday milestones

满月, 百日, 周岁, 六十大寿, and 八十大寿 — with sensible English labels too, and lunar dates when you use lunar birthdays.

  • Countdowns & calendar

Save countdowns, get reminders, and export .ics files to your calendar app. Celebrate in real life, not just on a screen.

  • Private by design

Events, photos, and notes stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to save a backup file somewhere you control.

  • English & 中文

Switch languages in Settings. Sample people and help text follow your choice until you change them.

How it started — the first 750th Moonday cake

On Friday, September 4, 2026, I was at lunch with friends, and we got talking about age. People count a baby’s age in months — “she’s 18 months” — and then somewhere along the way everyone switches to years and the months disappear.

Just for fun, I worked out my own age in months. I was born March 10, 1964, which meant I’d turn 750 months old the very next Thursday, September 10. So I said what anyone would say: “Let’s have a party.”

On my actual 750th Moonday, Thursday, September 10, I brought a cake to work that read “Happy Moonday 750 + Counting.” The next night, Friday, September 11, about twenty friends showed up to what was probably the first 750-month birthday party ever. My daughter told me she’d told her friends about it, and they said I was a pretty cool dad.

Two days later I started building this app. Any date can be a reason to celebrate, or to remember someone, if you do the math.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes during early access. Running the app costs real money (domains, tools, Apple programs) — optional tips on Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee help, but please don’t tip if money’s tight.

Where does my data go?

Your people, events, dates, and photos stay on your phone or computer. Contacts are read locally; nothing is saved until you add a date. Backups are files you choose where to keep — and you can password-lock them. Photos are not included in backups.

Is there an iPhone or Android app?

Not yet — iPhone and Android apps coming soon. Today you use the web app in Safari, Chrome, or another browser (after you request access and get an invite). There are no App Store or Google Play downloads.

How do I join?

Tap Request access above. Ben reads each request and sends an invite when there’s room. Then open the web app link from your invite email or the Open web app button here.

What’s a Moonday?

A Moonday is a monthly birthday milestone — months since birth, not years. The 750th Moonday means 750 months. In Chinese, a Moonday is 满月日.
